Baptism is the public declaration of your faith! It is the external demonstration of an internal heart change.
Baptism stems from the Greek word, baptizo, which means to dip, immerse, or sink. Water baptism represents a spiritual change, turning from a life led by the physical (The Flesh) to the one led by the spiritual (Jesus Christ). Symbolically, the flesh is put to death when immersed in water and the spirit is born anew when raised from the water.
While baptism cannot save you, it is a requirement for one who has been saved first by faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Romans 10:9-10 states, “If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.”
