“I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40

MISSION:

We endeavor to assist the Pastor and/or Missions and Outreach Coordinator in the faithful service of advancing and promoting the love of Christ through Missions and Outreach by providing objective advice that ensure passionate, compassionate, effective and efficient stewardship of the resources of FBCSH.

FOOD PANTRY:

Every Thursday (except the first Thursday of the month) bags of food are distributed to individuals and families that are in need. The food pantry distributes food between the hours of 12:00pm and 3:00pm. Currently an average of 400 families are served each week.

ADOPT-A-LOT:

Every Monday @ 6:30am a group of trained volunteers gather to pray and minister to homeless individuals and families living in their vehicles. Breakfast sandwiches, water, juice, fruit and other food items along with resource information are distributed at this time.

DINNERS WITH A MISSION:

Union Mission Ministries: Several times a year volunteers prepare delicious meals that are served displaying the love of Christ to homeless men, women and children. We express the love and mission of FBCSH to each individual, allowing them to know that no matter what their life circumstances maybe Jesus loves them.

Heron’s Landing Apartments: Heron’s Landing is an apartment complex for formerly homeless single men and women. Quarterly trained volunteers of FBCSH prepare and serve homemade meals to the residents. Several times during the year food bags, toiletries, and laundry products are also donated to the residents.

CAST (Chesapeake Area Shelter Team)

During the winter months, FBCSH provides overnight shelter to individuals and families for seven nights. During this time, breakfast, lunch and dinner are served. Our guests are also provided with toiletries, new clothing/footwear, barber/salon services and most importantly ministered the word of God through bible study and music.

PVH (Portsmouth Volunteers for the Homeless)

One week during the winter, FBCSH provides overnight shelter to single men and women. Breakfast and dinner is prepared and served along with supplies and resources to assist with obtaining permanent housing.
